Elizabethton’s biggest annual festival, Covered Bridge Days, takes place this fall on Sept. 22, 23, and 24. The free entertainment is always a big part of the fun and it begins Friday night, Sept. 22, with bluegrass band Sister Sadie. This group is made up of five women, including original members Deanie Richardson on fiddle, Gena Britt on banjo and vocals and newcomers Jaelee Roberts on guitar and vocals, Daniel Flowers on guitar and vocals and Maddie Dalton on acoustic bass and vocals.

The band traces its beginning to December 2012, when the founding members took the stage at Station Inn. “We thought it would be a fun little thing,” Britt said. “I’ll never forget it. At 5 o’clock, when we hit the first note, we all looked at each other like, ‘Oh yeah, this is pretty special.’”
